The Galaxy A56 One UI 9 update is finally out, but only in South Korea for now. Samsung has started rolling out stable One UI 9 based on Android 17 to the Galaxy A56 and Galaxy A36 at home, and the global release should follow within days.

If you have one of these phones in India, Europe or the US, the update isn’t on your phone yet. Let me show you what the Korean builds bring, when your region should get it, and how to install it the moment it shows up.

Quick answer: The Galaxy A56 (A566SKSUADZJ1) and Galaxy A36 (A366NKSU9DZIF) are getting One UI 9 in South Korea. Global units like the SM-A566B and SM-A366B are expected next week, most likely between October 19 and 23, 2026.

Which Galaxy A56 and A36 models have One UI 9 right now?

Only the Korean models so far. Our One UI 9 update tracker picked up the Galaxy A36 build for the SM-A366N on the KOO carrier code on October 15, 2026, at 9:35 PM IST. SamMobile then spotted the Galaxy A56 Korean firmware as well.

Here’s where things stand by model and region.

Phone Model number Region Build Status
Galaxy A56 SM-A566S South Korea A566SKSUADZJ1 Rolling out
Galaxy A36 SM-A366N South Korea (KOO) A366NKSU9DZIF Rolling out
Galaxy A56 SM-A566B, SM-A566E Europe, India, Asia, Latin America Not yet Expected next week
Galaxy A36 SM-A366B, SM-A366E Europe, India, Asia, Latin America Not yet Expected next week

The Galaxy A36 update weighs 2,485.01MB, so plan for roughly 2.5GB of free space and a Wi-Fi connection. It ships with the September 2026 security patch. Samsung hasn’t confirmed the patch level on the Galaxy A56 build yet, so I’ll update this post once our tracker reads it.

What’s new in the Galaxy A56 One UI 9 update?

Don’t expect a big Galaxy AI drop here. According to Android Headlines, the A-series build skips the new Galaxy AI features that the flagships got.

What you do get is still useful:

  • More Quick Panel customization, so you can rearrange toggles and sliders the way you like.
  • Updates to Samsung DeX and Samsung Notes.
  • New accessibility options.
  • A location privacy indicator that tells you when an app is reading your location.
  • Android 17 under the hood, plus the newer security patch.

Honestly, I think the location indicator is the best part for most people. It’s a small thing, but it shows you which apps keep checking where you are. You can see everything else in our One UI 9 features roundup.

When will the global One UI 9 update reach the Galaxy A56?

Most likely next week. Samsung followed the same pattern with the Galaxy A57 just a few days ago. It got One UI 9 in Korea on October 6, and the global build (A576BXXU6BZIE) started rolling out in Europe, Australia and New Zealand on October 12 and 13. That’s about six days from Korea to the rest of the world.

If the Galaxy A56 and A36 follow the same gap, global units should see the update around October 21 or 22. Tarun Vats also expects global One UI 9 for the A56 and A36, along with the Galaxy S23, Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5, sometime between October 19 and 23.

Keep in mind that Samsung rolls out updates in phases. Even after the first European users get it, it can take a week or two before every country and carrier has it. India usually isn’t far behind Europe for the A series. Check our One UI 9 device list if you want to see where your other Galaxy phones stand.

How to install One UI 9 on your Galaxy A56 or A36

Before you start, back up your photos and chats, and charge your phone to at least 50%. Then follow these steps.

  1. Open Settings on your Galaxy A56 or A36.
  2. Scroll down and tap Software update.
  3. Tap Download and install.
  4. If One UI 9 shows up, tap Download and wait for it to finish.
  5. Tap Install now. Your phone will restart a couple of times, so don’t panic.

That’s it. If you see “Your software is up to date”, the build hasn’t reached your region yet. Our guide on One UI 9 update not showing has a few things you can try while you wait.
