The Galaxy S26 FE is only a month old, and it has already picked up its October 2026 security update. Verizon got there first.
The rollout started in the US on October 1, 2026. It’s a small security update, and it lands on top of One UI 9, which the S26 FE ships with out of the box.
In this post, I will show you the build number, what’s in the update, when other carriers and regions should get it and how to install it.
Quick answer: the Galaxy S26 FE October 2026 update has build number S741USQS2AZI5 on Verizon. It brings the October 2026 security patch and no new features. Other US carriers, the unlocked model and international units should get it over the next one to three weeks.
Galaxy S26 FE October 2026 Update: Build Number
| Model | Carrier or region | Build | Date |
|---|---|---|---|
| Galaxy S26 FE (SM-S741U) | Verizon, US | S741USQS2AZI5 |
Oct 1, 2026 |
| Galaxy S26 FE | Other US carriers, unlocked, international | Not out yet | Expected in October |
The news comes from Sammy Fans. I’ll add new builds to this table as they show up.
What the Build Number Tells You
Samsung builds look random, but every part means something. Here’s how to read S741USQS2AZI5:
- S741U is the US model of the Galaxy S26 FE.
- SQ is the US carrier software.
- S means this is a security update. A feature update would have a U here.
- 2 is the bootloader version.
- A means the phone is still on the One UI version it launched with, which is One UI 9.
- Z is 2026 and I is September, the month Samsung built it.
- 5 is the revision.

What’s in the October Update?
Just security fixes. The changelog only mentions the latest Android security patches and general security improvements.
Samsung hasn’t published its October 2026 security bulletin yet. That usually comes in the first week of the month, and it will list exactly which issues this patch fixes. Once it’s out, I’ll link it here.
One nice thing about the S26 FE: it supports background (A/B) updates. Most of the install happens while you’re still using the phone, and a quick restart finishes the job. You don’t sit and stare at a progress bar for ten minutes.
When Will Other Carriers and Regions Get It?
Samsung doesn’t share a schedule for small updates like this. But here’s what usually happens after a Verizon release:
- AT&T, T-Mobile and the unlocked US model: within one to two weeks.
- South Korea, Europe and India: around the same time, sometimes sooner.
- Smaller markets: up to three weeks.
These are my estimates based on how other October patches are rolling out this week. The Galaxy S26 series and the Z Fold 8 and Flip 8 got theirs within days of each other. You can watch the October patch spread across models in the Samsung security update tracker.
How to Install the Update on Your Galaxy S26 FE
- Connect to Wi-Fi.
- Open Settings.
- Tap Software update.
- Tap Download and install.
- Tap Install now, or schedule it for later.
After it restarts, go to Settings > About phone > Software information. Look for the Android security patch level. It should say October 2026.

Not seeing it yet? Give it a few days. Samsung rolls out in batches, even inside the same carrier.
How Long Will the Galaxy S26 FE Get Updates?
Seven years. Samsung promises seven OS upgrades and seven years of security updates for the S26 FE, the same as the flagship Galaxy S26 series.
I broke that down year by year in my post on the Galaxy S26 FE update policy.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Galaxy S26 FE need the One UI 9 update?
No. It ships with One UI 9 already. The next big update for it will be One UI 9.5.
Is the October update safe to install?
Yes. It’s a small security update and it keeps all your data. I’d install it as soon as it shows up.
I bought my S26 FE from a carrier. Will I get updates later than others?
Sometimes, yes, by a few days. But this time Verizon was the first to get it, so carrier phones aren’t always last.
That’s it. If you’re on Verizon, check for the update now. Everyone else, it should reach you over the next couple of weeks.
Which carrier or country are you on? Drop your model number (Settings > About phone) and region in the comments, and I’ll let you know when your build is out.
