If you own a Galaxy S24, S24+, S24 Ultra or S24 FE, you’re probably asking the same thing as everyone else. When is stable One UI 9 coming?

The Galaxy S26 has it. The Galaxy S25 and the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 started getting it this week. The Galaxy S24 just got another September patch instead.

In this post, I will tell you where the Galaxy S24 stands right now, what the beta has shown us and when I expect the stable update to land.

Quick answer: Samsung hasn’t announced a date for stable One UI 9 on the Galaxy S24. Two beta builds are out, the S25 got stable One UI 9 on September 28, and the S24 is next in line. October 2026 is the most likely window, possibly together with the October security patch.

Where Is the Galaxy S24 One UI 9 Update Right Now?

Here’s the timeline so far:

Date What happened
Sep 2, 2026 One UI 9 beta 1 for the Galaxy S24 series in the US, India and South Korea
Sep 14, 2026 One UI 9 beta 2, about 600MB, build ending ZZI4
Sep 16, 2026 Galaxy S26 gets stable One UI 9 in South Korea
Sep 28, 2026 Galaxy S25, Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 get stable One UI 9 in South Korea
Sep 28 to Oct 1, 2026 Galaxy S24 series and S24 FE get the September 2026 security patch on One UI 8.5

The Galaxy S24 Just Got a September Update Instead

This is what confused a lot of people this week. On September 28, Samsung started pushing a new update to the Galaxy S24, and it wasn’t One UI 9.

It was the September 2026 security patch, still on One UI 8.5. According to Android Authority, it fixes around 90 security issues and doesn’t add new features.

Here are the builds our tracker picked up:

Model Build Size
Galaxy S24 (SM-S921B) S921BXXSHDZI1 About 450MB
Galaxy S24+ (SM-S926B) S926BXXSHDZI1 About 450MB
Galaxy S24 Ultra (SM-S928B) S928BXXS6DZI1 About 450MB
Galaxy S24 FE (SM-S721B) S721BXXSEDZI1 About 438MB
Galaxy S24 series, US carriers S92xUSQS6DZI1 Not listed
Galaxy S24 series, US unlocked S92xU1UES6DZI2 Not listed

Look at the fourth letter from the end. It’s “D”, and on the Galaxy S24 that means One UI 8.5. When stable One UI 9 arrives, that letter should change to “E”. That’s the easiest way to tell the two apart. My guide on the Samsung firmware version explains the rest of the code.

Is this bad news? Not really. Sammy Fans sees it as Samsung getting the S24 ready for the big jump. A late patch like this often comes a few weeks before a major update.

When Will the Galaxy S24 Get Stable One UI 9?

My best guess is October 2026. Here’s why.

Samsung usually goes newest to oldest. The S26 got it in mid-September, the S25 at the end of September, and the S24 is the next flagship on the list. Last year, the gap between the S25 and the S24 getting One UI 8 stable was a few weeks.

The September patch also means Samsung isn’t planning to ship One UI 9 to the S24 in the next few days. It could come bundled with the October 2026 patch, which would make sense.

This is my estimate, not an official date. Samsung Thailand has only said the S23 gets One UI 9 “later this year”, and there’s no official word for the S24 yet.

What’s Coming to the Galaxy S24 With One UI 9?

The beta already gives us a good idea. Beta 2 added features that first came with the Galaxy S26 and the new foldables, according to GSMArena:

  1. Now Nudge, which suggests actions based on what’s on your screen.
  2. Custom cards in Now Brief.
  3. Call Brief, which sums up your calls.
  4. My FanCam in the camera app.

Beta 2 also fixed Bixby Vision translation, crashes in the Contacts app and a camera white balance problem. You can see the full list in my post on One UI 9 features.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I still join the One UI 9 beta on the Galaxy S24?

Only in the countries where it’s running, which are the US, India and South Korea. Here’s how to join the One UI 9 beta. With stable this close, I’d just wait.

Is One UI 9 the last update for the Galaxy S24?

No. The Galaxy S24 series gets seven OS upgrades, so it has a few more years ahead of it. The S24 FE gets the same. Read more in my post on the Samsung update policy.

What about the Galaxy S23?

The S23 is behind the S24. I have covered it in a separate post on the Galaxy S23 One UI 9 update.
