The Galaxy S23 One UI 9 stable update is now rolling out outside South Korea, along with the builds for the Galaxy S23 Plus, Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5. Our firmware tracker picked up the global builds on the evening of October 19, 2026, across Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Australia. The update brings Android 17 and the October 2026 security patch.
Last week these phones got One UI 9 in Korea only. Now the international models (the ones ending in B) have their own builds, and the US carrier models are moving too. Here’s what changed, which countries are live and how to grab it.
Quick answer: One UI 9 (Android 17) stable is rolling out globally to the Galaxy S23 series (build S91xBXXUAGZIF) in 25 countries, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 (F946BXXU7HZIJ) in 23 countries and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 (F731BXXU7HZIJ) in 24 countries since October 19, 2026. All builds carry the October 2026 security patch.
Galaxy S23 One UI 9 global builds
These are the builds our tracker found on Samsung’s update servers. The S23 builds went live first, a little after 7:30 PM IST on October 19, and the foldables showed up within the hour.
| Phone | Model | Build number | Countries live |
|---|---|---|---|
| Galaxy S23 | SM-S911B | S911BXXUAGZIF | 25 |
| Galaxy S23 Plus | SM-S916B | S916BXXUAGZIF | 25 |
| Galaxy S23 Ultra | SM-S918B | S918BXXUAGZIF | 25 |
| Galaxy Z Fold 5 | SM-F946B | F946BXXU7HZIJ | 23 |
| Galaxy Z Flip 5 | SM-F731B | F731BXXU7HZIJ | 24 |
Look at the fifth character from the end of each build number. That’s the bootloader version: A on the S23 series and 7 on the foldables. Odin won’t flash older firmware with a lower bootloader version, so check this before you plan any downgrade. My Samsung firmware version guide breaks every character down.
SamMobile also reported the global Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 release, so this isn’t a limited test build.
Which countries have One UI 9 right now?
The Galaxy S23 series builds are live in these 25 regions:
- Australia
- Caucasus countries
- Egypt
- Europe (EUX, the open multi-country firmware)
- Ghana, Kenya and Nigeria
- Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam
- Iraq, Israel, Saudi Arabia and the UAE
- Kazakhstan, Russia, Serbia, Türkiye and Ukraine
- Morocco and Tunisia
- South Africa
The Galaxy Z Fold 5 list is the same minus Russia and Singapore. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 list skips Russia.
India isn’t on the list yet. Neither are the UK carrier variants. That’s normal. Samsung splits the rollout by CSC, which is the region and carrier code on your phone, so one country can get it days before the next.
What about the US Galaxy S23 and Fold 5?
The US models are moving too. Our tracker shows new builds for the AT&T and T-Mobile versions of all five phones:
- Galaxy S23: S911USQU8GZIF
- Galaxy S23 Plus: S916USQU8GZIF
- Galaxy S23 Ultra: S918USQU8GZIF
- Galaxy Z Fold 5: F946USQU8HZIJ
- Galaxy Z Flip 5: F731USQU8HZIJ
Verizon and the unlocked US models (XAA) aren’t out yet. I’ll add them to the One UI 9 update tracker as soon as they show up.
Why this one matters for Galaxy S23 owners
The Galaxy S23, Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 launched in 2023 with Android 13. Samsung promised four OS upgrades for this generation, and Android 17 is the fourth. So One UI 9 is the last major update these phones will get.
After this, you’re on security updates only. Our Samsung update policy page has the end dates for each model.
That makes this a good time to back up before you tap install. A full Android version jump is a big download with a long first boot. My backup guide for One UI 9 covers Smart Switch, Samsung Cloud and Google.
How to install One UI 9 on your Galaxy S23 or Z Fold 5
If you’re in one of the countries above, you can check for it now.
- Connect to Wi-Fi and charge your phone to at least 50%.
- Open Settings > Software update.
- Tap Download and install.
- When the download finishes, tap Install now and leave the phone alone until it boots back up.
Not seeing it? Wait a day and check again. Samsung doesn’t push the update to everyone in a country at once. If it still won’t show, my guide on the One UI 9 update not showing has the fixes I’d try first.
You can also flash the firmware yourself with Frija and Odin. Just pick the build for your own CSC.

FAQ
Is the Galaxy S23 One UI 9 update available in India?
Not yet. As of October 20, 2026, the global S23 build is live in 25 countries, and India (CSC INS) isn’t one of them. Samsung hasn’t shared a date for India, so keep checking Settings > Software update.
Can I downgrade to One UI 8 after installing One UI 9?
Only if a One UI 8 build with the same bootloader version exists for your model. The global builds carry bootloader version A on the S23 series and 7 on the foldables, and Odin rejects firmware with a lower one. Back up first so you don’t need to downgrade.
Is the Galaxy S23 FE getting One UI 9 now?
Not in this wave. These builds are only for the Galaxy S23, S23 Plus, S23 Ultra, Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5. Keep an eye on the One UI 9 device list for the S23 FE.
Will the One UI 9 update erase my data?
No. The over-the-air update keeps your apps, photos and settings. Still, back up first, and keep at least 10 GB of free storage so the install doesn’t fail.
