One UI 9 isn’t just for phones. Samsung’s new watch software, One UI 9 Watch, launched with the Galaxy Watch9 and Watch Ultra2 in August, and older Galaxy Watches are next.

The beta is already running on the Watch8, Watch7, Watch Ultra and Watch6. There’s no stable date yet, but the pattern is clear.

In this post, I will show you which Galaxy Watches get One UI 9 Watch, where each one stands right now and when I expect the stable update.

Quick answer: One UI 9 Watch is based on Wear OS 7. It’s expected for the Galaxy Watch8, Watch7, Watch Ultra, Watch6, Watch5 and Watch FE. Betas are live in South Korea and the US, and the stable update should start rolling out before the end of 2026, with the Watch8 first.

Which Galaxy Watches Will Get One UI 9 Watch?

Galaxy Watch One UI 9 Watch status Latest beta
Galaxy Watch9, Watch Ultra2 Ships with it Not needed
Galaxy Watch8, Watch8 Classic Beta Beta 3 (Sep 21)
Galaxy Watch7 Beta Beta 2 (Sep 21)
Galaxy Watch Ultra (2024) Beta Beta 1 (early September)
Galaxy Watch6, Watch6 Classic Beta Beta 2 (Sep 23)
Galaxy Watch5, Watch5 Pro Expected, in internal testing No beta yet
Galaxy Watch FE Expected No beta yet
Galaxy Watch4, Watch4 Classic Not expected None

Samsung has confirmed older watches will get One UI 9 Watch, but it hasn’t published an official list. This table is based on the beta program and on internal test builds for the Watch8, Watch7, Watch6 and Watch5 reported by Sammy Fans. The Watch4 isn’t part of any of them.

One UI 9 Watch Beta Timeline

Here’s how the beta has moved so far:

  1. August 26 to 28: beta 1 for the Galaxy Watch8 series in South Korea, then the US.
  2. Early September: beta 2 for the Watch8 with the September 2026 patch. Beta 1 for the Galaxy Watch7 and Watch Ultra.
  3. September 21: beta 3 for the Watch8 with fixes for Always On Display and apps, and beta 2 for the Watch7.
  4. September 23: beta 2 for the Galaxy Watch6 and Watch6 Classic in South Korea, with AOD fixes and bug fixes for the Compass and Weather apps.

The beta is only open in South Korea and the US. To join, open the Samsung Members app on the phone your watch is paired with and look for the One UI 9 Watch beta banner. Your phone usually needs to be on One UI 9 or in the phone beta first.

When Will the Stable One UI 9 Watch Update Come Out?

Samsung hasn’t announced a date. Based on how the beta is moving, here’s what I expect:

  1. Galaxy Watch8 series: first, likely in October or November 2026, after one more beta.
  2. Galaxy Watch7 and Watch Ultra: a few weeks after the Watch8.
  3. Galaxy Watch6, Watch5 and Watch FE: by the end of 2026.

These are my estimates, not official dates. Samsung usually ships the stable watch update in stages, newest watch first, and it tends to arrive around the time the phone update reaches older Galaxy phones.

What’s New in One UI 9 Watch?

Here are the main changes Samsung showed with the Galaxy Watch9 and Watch Ultra2 on Samsung Newsroom:

  1. A new look for the watch interface with smaller, cleaner text that fits more on screen.
  2. A redesigned Samsung Health app.
  3. New health metrics like Vitals, Heart Health Score, Fitness Index and Daily Cardio Load.
  4. Wear OS 7 under the hood.

Some health features depend on the sensors in your watch, so older models may not get all of them. I’ll update this list once the stable changelog for older watches is out.

How to Update Your Galaxy Watch

You update the watch from your phone. Here’s how:

  1. Make sure your watch is charged above 30% and on the charger.
  2. Open the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone.
  3. Tap Watch settings.
  4. Tap Watch software update.
  5. Tap Download and install.

The phone side matters too. If your phone is still on One UI 8.5, check the One UI 9 update tracker to see when it gets One UI 9.
