This was a big week for Samsung updates. One UI 9 reached the Galaxy S25 and last year’s foldables, the October patch started early and One UI 9.5 showed up for the first time.

Our tracker logged 706 new firmware entries between September 28 and October 2 alone. I went through all of it so you don’t have to.

Here’s everything that happened, with links to the full posts if you want the details.

Quick answer: stable One UI 9 started for the Galaxy S25 series, S25 FE, Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7 and Z Flip 7 FE in South Korea on September 28. The Galaxy S26 got One UI 9 in the US, Europe and Asia, then its October patch right after. The Z Fold 8, Flip 8 and S26 FE also got the October patch, and the Galaxy S24 got a September patch instead of One UI 9.

One UI 9 Reaches the Galaxy S25 and the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7

The biggest news of the week. On September 28, Samsung started rolling out stable One UI 9 in South Korea to these phones, as first reported by GSMArena:

Device Region First seen
Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Edge, S25 Ultra South Korea Sep 28
Galaxy S25 FE South Korea Sep 28
Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, Z Flip 7 FE South Korea Sep 28
Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7 AT&T, US Oct 2

The S25 Ultra build is S938NKSUCDZIF and it weighs about 3.9GB. Europe, India and the rest of the world should follow over the next two to three weeks. I’m tracking it model by model in the Galaxy S25 One UI 9 update post.

Galaxy S26: One UI 9 Goes Global, Then the October Patch

The Galaxy S26 series got stable One UI 9 in Korea back in mid-September. This week it went wide. Our feed shows it on AT&T and the US unlocked model on September 28, Canada on September 29, about 30 more regions worldwide on September 29 and 30, and China on September 30.

Then, within a day or two, the same phones got another update with the October 2026 patch. If you got two updates in a row and wondered why, I explained it in Galaxy S26 Gets Two Updates Back to Back.

The October 2026 Patch Starts Early

Samsung didn’t wait for October to start. Here’s who has it so far:

  1. Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra: South Korea on September 30, then Europe, Asia and China.
  2. Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8: South Korea on October 1. Details in my Z Fold 8 and Flip 8 October update post.
  3. Galaxy S26 FE: Verizon on October 1. Build numbers in my Galaxy S26 FE October update post.

Samsung hasn’t published its October security bulletin yet. It usually lands in the first week of the month, and I’ll cover it as soon as it’s out. Until then, you can follow the patch in the Samsung security update tracker.

Galaxy S24 Gets a September Patch, Not One UI 9

From September 28, the Galaxy S24, S24+, S24 Ultra and S24 FE got the September 2026 patch on One UI 8.5. The build for the S24 is S921BXXSHDZI1, and it’s out in about 30 regions now.

No One UI 9 yet. Two betas are done, and I think stable is close. Here’s everything we know about the Galaxy S24 One UI 9 release date.

September Patch for Older Galaxy Phones and Tablets

A lot of older devices got the September 2026 patch this week too. Here’s what our tracker picked up:

  1. Galaxy S23, S23+, S23 Ultra and S23 FE: more than 30 regions each.
  2. Galaxy Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6: more than 30 regions each.
  3. Galaxy Tab S9 and Tab S10 series: Europe, Latin America and Asia.
  4. Galaxy A17, A16 and A54 in some regions.

The S23 is still waiting for One UI 9. Here’s where it stands in my Galaxy S23 One UI 9 update post.

Galaxy A15 5G Gets One UI 9 Beta 2

This one surprised me. The Galaxy A15 5G is in the One UI 9 beta in India, the first time a Galaxy A1x phone got a beta program at all. On September 30, it got beta 2 with build ending ZZIC, about 500MB, according to Sammy Fans.

It fixes the lock screen wallpaper going missing after an update and slow photo processing in the camera. If you want to try a beta yourself, here’s how to join the One UI 9 beta.

One UI 9.5 Shows Up for the First Time

One UI 9 isn’t done rolling out, and One UI 9.5 is already in testing. It appeared in a Samsung app update on October 1, and internal builds for the Galaxy S26, Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 were spotted a day later.

I’ve put everything we know in One UI 9.5: What We Know So Far.
