The Galaxy S26 got One UI 9 on September 16, 2026. Naturally, if you own a Galaxy S25, you’re wondering when it’s your turn.

Good news. The S25 series is next in line, and the wait shouldn’t be long.

In this post, I will show you where the Galaxy S25 One UI 9 update stands right now, when you can expect it and how to get your phone ready. The table below updates itself the moment Samsung releases it.

If it says “Waiting”, Samsung hasn’t released stable One UI 9 for that model in any region yet. For every other Galaxy device, check the full One UI 9 update tracker.

What Software Is the Galaxy S25 Running Right Now?

The Galaxy S25 series is on One UI 8.5 (Android 16). It got One UI 8.5 in South Korea on May 6, 2026 and globally from May 11.

The latest global builds carry the August 2026 security patch:

DeviceModelLatest buildPatch

Galaxy S25 UltraSM-S938BS938BXXSCCZH1August 2026
Galaxy S25 FESM-S731BS731BXXS9BZH1August 2026

These builds are from India and were released on August 31, 2026. Your region’s build may be slightly different.

The S25 hasn’t received the September 2026 patch yet. That usually means Samsung is holding it to ship alongside One UI 9. You can follow the patch in the Samsung security update tracker.

When Will the Galaxy S25 Get One UI 9?

Samsung’s official announcement only said One UI 9 will gradually roll out to other Galaxy devices after the S26. There’s no exact date for the S25.

But we can make a good guess based on One UI 8.5. Samsung released it for the Galaxy S26 and S25 in Korea on the same day (May 6, 2026), and the global S25 builds followed five days later.

This time, the S26 went first on its own. So here’s what I expect:

  1. Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra: late September to early October 2026, starting in South Korea.
  2. Galaxy S25 Edge: at the same time or a few days after.
  3. Galaxy S25 FE: a few weeks later, likely in October or November 2026.

These are my estimates, not official dates.

US carrier models (SM-S938U) and the US unlocked model (SM-S938U1) usually get the update after South Korea and Europe. T-Mobile tends to be the first US carrier.

What’s New in One UI 9 for the Galaxy S25?

The Galaxy S25 should get nearly every One UI 9 feature, since it has the same kind of hardware as the S26. Some highlights:

  1. My FanCam, which follows one person in a video and keeps them centered.
  2. Editable and generative cards in Now Brief.
  3. Now Nudge suggestions in more apps.
  4. Warranty and Care in Settings.
  5. Privacy Alerts, which Samsung has confirmed for the Galaxy S25 and S25 FE.

How Many More Updates Will the Galaxy S25 Get?

Plenty. The Galaxy S25 series launched with One UI 7 on Android 15 and has seven years of Android upgrades and security updates.

One UI 9 on Android 17 is only its second Android version upgrade. It should keep getting upgrades until around Android 22, with security updates until about 2032. I have explained this in detail in my post on the Samsung update policy.

How to Get Your Galaxy S25 Ready for One UI 9

Here are a few things you can do now so the update goes smoothly:

  1. Back up your phone. Go to Settings > Accounts and backup > Back up data.
  2. Free up at least 10 GB of storage.
  3. Update your apps from the Galaxy Store and Play Store.
  4. Keep your phone charged above 50% when the update arrives.

When it’s live, go to Settings > Software update > Download and install.

If it’s out in your region but not showing on your phone, here’s what to do when the One UI 9 update is not showing.

Can You Install One UI 9 on the Galaxy S25 Now?

Not officially. There’s no stable One UI 9 firmware for the Galaxy S25 yet, and the One UI 9 beta was only for the Galaxy S26 series.

Once Samsung releases it, you can flash it manually with Odin, using firmware downloaded with the Frija tool. Just make sure the model number matches your phone exactly.

Watch out for fake “One UI 9 for S25” downloads floating around. If the build isn’t listed on Samsung’s own servers (and in the tracker above), don’t flash it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Galaxy S25 Edge getting One UI 9?

Yes. It’s part of the S25 family and should get it around the same time as the S25 and S25 Ultra.

Will the update wipe my data?

No. An OTA update keeps all your apps and data. Still, back up first.

How big is the One UI 9 update?

Expect several gigabytes, since it’s a full Android version upgrade.
